Conditions for the PLAB Exam

The requirements for medical graduates taking the test are listed below:

An organization that is listed in the World Health Organization Directory of Medical Schools must recognize the candidates' primary qualification in order to grant limited registration.
The applicants should have taken the IELTS exam and obtained a minimum overall score of 7 and a minimum score of 7.0 in each of the four language modules.
A minimum of 12 months of postgraduate clinical experience at a teaching hospital is also required of the candidates.


The first part of the PLAB is administered in the following Indian states:

Exam format

The PLAB test has two components:

The PLAB 1 exam is administered in MCQ format and consists of 180 questions that must be answered in three hours.
The objective structured clinical examination (OSCE), which is comprised of 18 clinical stations, is the focus of PLAB 2's second section. Each station lasts for 18 minutes, including a 2-minute reading period. At the beginning of Foundation Year 2 (F2) in the Foundation Programme, the exam is set at the proficiency level of a doctor.

Application Process for PLAB Exam

The GMA website can also be used for the PLAB test. You will receive a confirmation email from the GMC website after the candidate applies for the test, verifying their registration. His or her registration information, location, test location, and test start time will also be included in the email. Twice a year, PLAB 1 is organized in numerous Indian cities (on 15th March and 15th November). Ordinarily, the exam must be completed eight weeks before to enrolment.

Candidates may show up as many times as they'd like for PLAB 1, but only four times for PLAB 2. The candidate will have to reappear for PLAB 1 after failing the fourth attempt at PLAB 2.

Result

The results of Part 1, or PLAB 1, are typically announced four weeks following the test date.

There is a limited number of attempts that students can make for each component of the PLAB exam because it is a competitive exam among students.

For part 1, students are permitted four tries.
If the candidate passed the part 1 test when it was still valid, they are allowed four tries at the part 2 OSCE.

Please take note that you have a maximum of four chances to pass part 2 and that you must do so within two years of the date that you passed part 1. You must retake Parts 1 and 2 if you do not pass Part 2 within two years of passing Part 1 or fail on your fourth attempt.
PLAB Exam Following MBBS

Following their MBBS in India, candidates can take PG courses in the UK with the PLAB exam. It's a requirement to get GMC registration, which is required in the UK medical system. It is a certification exam to determine your eligibility for registration with the General Medical Council. A degree is not awarded. Only applicants are registered with the GMC.

Once you have passed both of your PLAB exams, you can submit an application for a full registration with a practice license. Your application must be accepted within two years of passing part 2 of the exam. Your application will be approved by the GMC, and you can then start practicing medicine in the UK.
